Transparency note: Noor Al Khair Computer installs in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. We do not currently list Abu Dhabi as a service area, so this guide is general advice, not a sales page. For an Abu Dhabi job, choose an installer registered in Abu Dhabi.

A CCTV job is mostly the same everywhere in the UAE: plan, cable, mount, record, test, hand over. What changes by emirate is the rules that apply to businesses and who is allowed to do the work.

The process, step by step

1. Survey and design

A good installer visits the site, walks the perimeter and entrances, and agrees what each camera must see: a face at the door, a plate at the gate, general movement in a car park. You should receive a written camera schedule.

2. Equipment and storage

Cameras, a recorder (NVR) and surveillance-grade hard disks are chosen to match the design. Storage depends on camera count, resolution and the number of days you need. Our storage guide shows how to calculate it.

3. Cabling and mounting

Network cables are run to each camera position, ideally hidden in conduit or trunking. Cameras are mounted out of easy reach and aimed, then focused.

4. Configuration and testing

The recorder is set to record continuously (or on motion where suitable), the clock is set correctly, passwords are changed and remote viewing is tested. Check every camera by day and at night.

5. Handover

You should leave with the admin password, a quick walkthrough of searching and exporting video, and the warranty terms in writing.

Homes versus businesses in Abu Dhabi

Homes are mostly a privacy and quality question. Abu Dhabi Police have urged residents to use licensed companies, keep cameras off neighbours' property and never share footage on social media. See CCTV privacy rules in the UAE.

Businesses may be required to have CCTV that meets Abu Dhabi's rules, and those rules are separate from Dubai's SIRA and Sharjah Police requirements. We summarise what is publicly reported in Abu Dhabi CCTV requirements in 2026.

What to ask any installer

  • Are you registered to carry out security installation work in Abu Dhabi, and can I see the document?
  • Will I get a camera schedule and the recorder and disk specification in the quote?
  • How many days of footage will the system keep at the stated settings?
  • Who handles the warranty, and who maintains the system afterwards?
  • Is training included?

More in how to choose a licensed CCTV installation company.

Common mistakes

  • Buying the cheapest quote without comparing the camera schedules
  • Too little storage, so footage is overwritten after a week
  • Backlit entrance cameras that only record silhouettes
  • No UPS, so power cuts corrupt the disk
  • Leaving default passwords on cameras. See securing CCTV against hackers.

If your business is in Dubai, Sharjah or Ajman

We can help. See our pages for Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, or request a CCTV quote.

Conclusion

Whatever the emirate, good CCTV starts with a survey and ends with a tested handover. In Abu Dhabi, add one more step: confirm your installer's local registration before you pay a deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Do you install CCTV in Abu Dhabi?

Our installation teams work in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman. We do not list Abu Dhabi as a service area, so for an Abu Dhabi job we recommend a company registered there.

Is a site survey necessary?

Yes. Cable routes, mounting heights, lighting and the position of the recorder decide the quality of the result, and none of them can be judged from a floor plan alone.
