Who needs a police-compliant CCTV system
Requirements depend on your business activity. Shops, restaurants, hotels, warehouses, workshops, exchange houses, jewellers, schools, clinics and residential buildings are commonly required to install CCTV that meets the Sharjah Police specification. Some activities must also connect to the Sharjah Police Raqib monitoring programme.
If you are not sure whether your activity is covered, send us your trade licence activity and we will tell you what applies before you spend anything.
What the specification typically covers
The exact rules depend on your activity and are updated from time to time, so we confirm the current version at your survey. Systems we install in Sharjah are typically built to these points:
- IP cameras of at least 2 MP (1080p), with 4 MP or higher at main entrances and outdoors
- Coverage of entrances, exits, cash counters, car parks, lift lobbies and other required areas
- At least 60 days of continuous recording, with storage protected against disk failure
- Recording at a frame rate fast enough to identify people, not just detect them
- Weather-rated (IP66) outdoor cameras and no wireless cameras
- Backup power so recording continues during a power cut
- CCTV warning signage at the entrance
- A maintenance contract with an approved company, and maintenance and footage logs kept on site
How we get you compliant
We survey the premises, check your activity's requirements, and give you a written camera schedule and quote. After installation we test recording, retention and backup power, hand over the documents you need, and put the system on an annual maintenance contract so it stays compliant for your next renewal.
Already have cameras that failed an inspection? We can audit the existing system and upgrade only what is needed, such as adding storage for 60-day retention or replacing low-resolution cameras at the entrance.

Questions people ask
Are you approved by Sharjah Police?
Yes. Noor Al Khair Computer Trading holds a Sharjah Police No Objection Certificate, issued in April 2026, for installing and selling alarm and surveillance systems. The certificate is shown on this page.
How many days of recording does Sharjah Police require?
Most commercial premises are expected to keep at least 60 days of recording, but the requirement depends on your activity. We confirm the current figure for your business and size the storage to match.
Can you upgrade my existing CCTV instead of replacing it?
Often yes. We audit what you have and only replace what does not meet the requirement, for example the recorder, the hard disks or the entrance cameras.
Do I need a maintenance contract?
Commercial systems are generally expected to be covered by a maintenance contract with an approved company. Our AMC includes scheduled visits, log updates and priority repairs.
